Why Doulas?

"Having Dionne as my doula was truly an
amazing experience. From the moment I
hired her, I was almost overwhelmed with
the amount of support and knowledge that
she had for me for the single most important
experience of my life. During my pregnancy,
Dionne lived almost 2 hours away from me
but that never stopped her from constantly
making trips to my home with loads of
information about my pregnancy and to
prepare me for the arrival of my son. Not only
was Dionne there for me as a teacher and a
guide but she was there for me spiritually
and emotionally. As many women know,
pregnancy is a roller-coaster ride. Dionne
was the one throughout my pregnancy to not
only help with the dramatic ups and downs,
but to constantly assure me that the ride was
an adventurous one and that there was
nothing to fear. The biggest and greatest
testimony that I can give as having her as my
doula is my memory of the day I went into
labor. My baby was in inactive labor for 2 days
and Dionne remained w/ me the entire time.
In that time we had a lot of fun, goofing off
and enjoying the town of Plymouth, MA as we
were hoping that through being active, my
active labor would start naturally. Throughout
my 15 hour active labor Dionne was there for
me to help me with my breathing, and
comforting me throughout the experience.
Thanks to her support my son Lennon came
into this world at a healthy 7lbs. Her support
still continued throughout my son's earliest
months and she still remains as a confidant
and advisor to me. I will always be grateful to
her and all that she has done for me and my
son Lennon!"
